      Jakarta - Android Market, Google removed. Instead of the operating system Android application store, Google presents Google's Play. This change is considered as an effort to compete with Google in Apple's iTunes service which has the App Store, Music, Movies, and iBooks. Google Play is basically a portal all in one for applications, music, books and film. Android Market will be called the Play Store. While the content of books, music and film called Play Music, Play Music and Movies Play. Android Market application on a tablet computer and the smartphone will be updated with the Google icon Play Store in the next few days.  

This update is specifically for the Android operating system version 2.2 and above.

"As of today, Android Market, Google Music and Google become the Google eBookstore Play. On your Android phone or tablet, we will upgrade to the Android Market Google application Play Store," said Jamie Rosenberg, Director of Digital Content Google told TechRadar.

Google Play design allows users to control and navigate the content in it. Google apparently hopes rebranding application store will increase the number of visitors as well as revenue. In addition, the application store to rival Apple's App Store.

"Although a phenomenal success and widespread adoption, the Android Market exhausted to collect revenue as in the App Store," said Greg Sandoval of CNET tech sites.

Google is still indicated at least less happy with the purchase of an application in Android Market. It was said recently by Eric Chu as the Android Platform Manager.

According to research firm Piper Jaffray estimates, total revenue from the Apple App Store reaches USD 4.9 billion until the end of 2011. In the span of about the same time, the Android Market 'only' reached about USD 341 million.
